Chris Marsceill was born in Boston and raised in Philadelphia. He has been playing piano since the age of four, and
professionally since seventeen. He received a scholarship from the prestigious Settlement School of Music in Philadelphia,
and performed in their Jazz Ensemble as the youngest member at sixteen. At seventeen, the calling of James Booker and
Dr. John beckoned and Chris relocated to New Orleans.

Attending Loyola University, he studied with Michael Pellera, John Mahoney and others. He began performing around
the city with a group of Loyola students. After three semesters at Loyola, Chris moved on to University of New Orleans.

Wanting to focus on original material, Chris formed a modern jazz group, SubStream, and began performing shows at
the legendary Funky Butt Music Hall in the summer of 1998. After an accident that almost severed the middle finger on
his left hand, Chris stepped out of the music scene for 5 months. Come 1999, Chris had been introduced to Ellen Rogers,
who had already made a name for herself on the local R&B scene, but had a burning desire for something quite different.
They both found that they shared a similar passion, the standards of the "American Songbook". With a strong foundation
of Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and other masters of the popular song, they built a show that audiences adore.

By the summer of 2002 Chris had been filling in regularly for Joe Krown for his traditional piano night, which had moved
from the Maple Leaf Bar to Le Bon Tons. After a brief stint touring with local funksters JUICE, Chris started a weekly
gig at the Blue Nile as part of the Ted Hefko Quartet. The Quartet entertained audiences with it's readings of classic standards,
hard bop classics and slick originals. From the Quartet grew the Chris Marsceill Trio which combines concepts of the
traditional piano trio with a few modern twists. The group does always, however, remain on accoustic instruments.

In October of 2002 Chris also joined up with the Brides of Jesus, a New Orleans based funk unit whose past members included
members of Papa Grows Funk, the funky Meters, the Neville Brothers and Vida Blue. After only two months the new BoJ
lineup had fonkified audiences from New Orleans to New York City. The BoJ plan to continue touring and promoting their
new release Saints & Sinners.

After a year of live performing The Bradford Truby Trio released an album of jazz standards.  Bradford Truby, Bryan Besse
and Chris performed twice a week at Storyville Jazz Parlour on Bourbon Street before landing the spot as one of two house
bands at the Fairmont Hotel.  Around the same time Chris and Bryan recorded "Restless Natives" with Billy Iuso.

Since Hurricane Katrina Chris has relocated to Philadelphia with his wife, Kristen.  He continues with his solo New Orleans Jazz
piano shows, perform with an upright bassist at local restaurants, and started his group "The Naked Nuns of Soul" performing
obscure R&B covers.  He also can be seen with the Dodge City Junkies, a staple on the local bar scene.
